Hanfu Capes and Cloaks

Hanfu Capes and Cloaks
The outer layer that completes a hanfu outfit: pifeng coats, bijia vests and capes. They add warmth and structure, and they change the silhouette more than any other single piece.
Types

Pifeng (披风) — a long slung coat with a folded-back collar, worn open. The most formal outer layer in Ming dress.
Bijia (比甲) — a sleeveless overcoat worn over a top and skirt.
Cape / cloak — a single draped layer for warmth and photographs.

Popular pieces
hanfu cloak coat and embroidered fleece cape.
How to choose
Outer layers need room to sit over a robe or a jumper, so size for the layers underneath rather than for your body alone. Check sleeve length and total length against your height. For the full style breakdown, read our hanfu capes and cloaks guide.
